  • Actually, the U.S.S. Baltimore was not equipped with wireless by the end of 1906, per Lincoln Howett, History of Communications-Electronics in the United States Navy, p. 106, drawing on the SecNav’s annual report for that year. The Aerogram, a publication of the United Wireless Telegraph Co., reported an installation on the Baltimore as of November 1908: https://earlyradiohistory.us/1908uwa.htm, call letters “NCH.”
