  • Can more than one pistol have the same serial number ? Because I have a little Derringer with the same serial number probably around the same period as the pistil in the picture.

    • Indeed, Colt has been recycling serial numbers for centuries. Using their serial number tool ( https://www.colt.com/serial-lookup ) for 75447 gives you 24 results ranging from a Model 1849 Pocket in .31 caliber made in 1853 to a 1968 Trooper Model with stops that include the Selfridge Colt (made in 1862) a Single Action Army made in 1882, at least four different Police Positives (1910, 1913, 1914, 1916), a Commando revolver made in WWII, and– what is likely YOUR gun– a Colt Open Top Pocket Model made in 1875.
