My father remembered this day well. A few years ago he recounted this day to my husband in great detail. He was an AN aboard the Sicily from ‘51-’54. The sailor in the foreground looks a lot like my dad. The first time I saw this pic I said out loud “OMG that’s my dad!” Of course there’s no way to know for sure but one thing I can be sure of is how much he loved his time aboard the USS Sicily!
