Handprints inside Battery Dearborn

The handprints inside the magazine of Battery Dearborn, a reinforced concrete, Endicott Period 12-inch mortar battery at Fort Morgan. These are about 10 feet off the ground and were made by gunners moving around about stacks of shells and bags of powder with their sweaty hands forever staining the calcium of the walls. The battery was decommissioned in 1931.
