Weapons, Wars, Preparation and Security from a recovering gun nut turned bad writer
My great grandfather Samual Hughes served on HMS Hecla from 1878 to 1882 and is shown on the ships company recorded in the 1881 cenus. The ship was stationed at Valletta in Malta at the time. He retired as a naval pensioner a few years later so it was at the end if his long naval career that he served on HMS Hecla.
