Hello,
My Dad enlisted in the Coastguard in Houston Texas March 17, 1942 WWII, sailor 1c, 2nd class, Rm3c, Rm2c.
Was on landingcraft, Uscgc Thetis, uss General weigel, and his records do mention flotilla one. Assume that is the matchbox fleet?
Was trained as a radio man. Was in The Coastguard for about 21 years. Retired 1963 as a Chief petty officer. Is there a way to find more information then I have? Just interested in his service…
My parents are both deceased. my Dad in 2003, my mother 2017. Just have been looking into and looking for more information? Thank you for your help
