USS Thomas A Edison (SSBN-610) an Ethan Allen-class ballistic-missile submarine, was utimatly decommissond in 1983 after 21 years of dedicated service as a Polaris boat. She was also the only U.S. submarine conducting nuclear deterrent patrols to have a full-sized Steinway piano installed. Her motto was Potentia Tenebras Repellendi (Power to Repel the Darkness).
