HOW PEACE CAME TO THE EAST. 12 TO 16 AUGUST 1945, ON BOARD THE ESCORT CARRIER HMS SHAH OF THE EAST INDIES FLEET. PERSONALITIES AND SCENES WHEN THE NEWS OF THE JAPANESE SURRENDER WAS RECEIVED, AND THE CELEBRATIONS WHICH FOLLOWED AFLOAT AND ASHORE. (A 30204) Part of the ship’s company of HMS SHAH fallen in for entering harbour on the flight deck. The cruiser HMS CEYLON is in the background. It was the first time HMS SHAH made a peace-time entry into Trincomalee Harbour.
