Hohenfels aground off Bandur Shapur August 1941, with her pre-war colors intact. Captured and salvaged by HMS Kanimbla, she went to work for the Admiralty as Empire Kamal 1941, then Van Ruisdael 1944, and Ridderkerk 1947, before she was scrapped in Hong Kong in 1962.
