HMS BROADWAY, FORMERLY THE USS HUNT, WHICH WAS BUILT AT NEWPORT NEWS, VIRGINIA, IN 1920, AND IS ONE OF THE 50 DESTROYERS HANDED OVER TO THE BRITISH BY AMERICA IN EXCHANGE FOR BASES, HAS PAINTED ON HER BOWS THE ‘MAGIC EYE’, ORIGINATING FROM AN OLD CHINESE SUPERSTITION THAT IT WARDS OFF EVIL.
