My Grandfather sailed on that ship. And was there for the rescue of the Airmen. His name was Douglas Wagar. I recently received a photo of this rescue with him in the picture.
My Uncle was also on Haida and present for the rescue. He was later killed in a vehicle collision in 1965. His name was Stanley Mason.
