Support the Growler

With increased spending on the F-35 boondoggle, and decreased military budgets, the Navy is doing some odd things such as retiring the newest guided missile cruiser in the fleet even though the GAO says its bad idea.

One of the looming defundings is in the F-18 program, which is seeing the numbers of both the F-18E/F Strike fighter (which replaces older F-18A/C, F-14s and A-6 Intruders) and the EA-18G Growler Air Defense suppression aircraft (which replaced the EA-6B Prowler) effectively capped. This would put all of the Navy’s combat aircraft ‘eggs’ in the F-35’s unproven basket.

Currently, the Fiscal Year 2015 President’s Budget Request does not include funding for continued production of EA-18G Growlers or F/A-18E/F Super Hornets, both produced on the F/A-18 production line.  The Growler is the only full spectrum airborne electronic attack capability, and without your help it would prematurely end production at a time when there is an emerging requirement for additional Growlers to adequately protect military forces in future threat environments.

Please support adding EA-18G Growlers to the Fiscal Year 2015 budget. Sign the letter here.
