Something you don’t see everyday
Not a lot of armor recovered in North American battlefields:
From the Fort Ticonderoga Museum:
“This remarkable artifact was recovered from within the north demi-lune of Fort Ticonderoga during repairs in 1941. Its presence there is still somewhat of a mystery. French engineers sometimes had armor for working under fire during sieges and the Canadian artillery Commander, François Le Mercier, requested such armor in 1755, but no documentary evidence exists that any was supplied to Fort Carillon.”
This object can be seen in ‘A Ticonderoga Chronology’ exhibit, located on the second floor of the Soldier’s Barracks starting May 4th.
