The Obrez: Russian Sawn off Mosin Flame Maker

Looking like something Jawas would use in a driveby, there exists a sawn off conversion of the Imperial Russian Army’s Model 1891 Mosin-Nagant rifle that is sure to draw any curious gunnies’ attention. It’s dubbed the Obrez, and its something of a flamethrower.

The word Obrez roughly translates into ‘cut down’ in Russian, with the term often used in connotation of pruning a tree or in the act of circumcision. As the name would imply, it is a sawn off product that originally was much longer. The object at the center of this concept was the standard infantry rifle of 1917 Russia, the Vintovka Mosina commonly known as the Mosin-Nagant.

Links to Build a $630 AR

I’ve seen quite a few people lately buying off the shelf, commercial grade AR’s for $700-800. Quite a few other people have asked me for details on what I would build if I were wanting a great bang for the buck AR. With the links I have listed below, you’ll be able to put together a milspec AR-15 with quality parts for $630 plus shipping (price at time of posting). Obviously these parts are just suggestions from me and you can feel comfortable swapping out one product for another from any of these manufacturers.

Zombie Virus Can Be Real

RedOrbit has done some research that would tend to color the prospect of a zombie virus as a definite….possibility

“So, you start with Rabies virus, but you engineer it so that it doesn’t actually kill you. It just takes over your brain and makes you want to bite other people to spread itself. Infected people just become automatons devoted to spreading the virus. The main viral property you’d want to change would be to convert it from causing an acute infection (like Ebola which tends to kill the victim quickly) to persistent infection (like Herpes, which stays with you for your entire life). Functions you’d want the infected person to retain would be metabolism (so they can produce more virus) and motility (so they can get from victim to victim). You would want the virus to cause infected people to lose the ability to think independently (and therefore come up with a cure).

Hey, aren’t we talking about internet trolls here,” Dr. Dinman told redOrbit.

Some conspiracy theorists say a zombie virus is already here and its known as LQP-79. This virus is allegedly a “mental virus infection” that derived from the 79th attempt at developing a “Lysergic Quinine Protein” in a bid to create a mind control substance. According to theories, the virus was supposed to be contained to training facilities, but not only have samples been released, the media is playing cover-up by hiding information on this story from the public. Obviously, this story has been proven time and time again to be a hoax, but it has become so popular that even the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) acknowledged the term “LQP-79? had been one of the top searched terms on the government agency’s website in May 2012.”

SEAL Droppings Claimed in Somalia

After a recent series of raids along the coastline of the Horn of Africa, local jihadist rebels have been spouting about lost equipment supposedly captured from Navy Seals. We give our take on this.

Along the Eastern coast of Africa, where the ‘horn’ of the continent reaches out towards the Indian Ocean, lays the confusing country that is Somalia. Divided and mired in a civil war that has been raging off and on over the past quarter century, American involvement has been off and on in the area. Blackhawk Down was twenty years ago this week, pirates are often blown out of the water there with the help of the US Navy, and a combined task force, Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa is based at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti– just a stone’s throw away.

Its CJTF-HOA’s mission to combat terrorists in the area. Namely against Al-Shabaab, a fundamentalist group with Al-Qaeda ties. That’s where the raid comes in.

In of Barawe, a coastal town in Somalia on October 5, 2013, a group of commandos crept in during the dark of night. These frogmen were looking for one Somali ideas man who worked for al-Shabab. After making contact with the shibabist terrorist foot soldiers, the small group of allied troops broke contact and withdrew….and apparently left some stuff behind.

“Patients, suffering from an advanced and aggressive form of variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, were released into the general population after an incident at a medical treatment facility outside of Washington, D.C.

The Centers for Disease Control and U.S. military officials have confirmed that the infection could reach Henderson County as early as November. Army Banning Ink Below the Elbows or Knees

http://www.nationaljournal.com/national-security/u-s-army-set-to-ban-tattoos-below-the-elbow-or-knees-20130923

The U.S. military and tattoos have an entangled history. The rise of the tattoo in popular culture started with floods of inked veterans—especially from World War II—returning home with them. The first tattoo parlor in New York City, established in 1846, served to mark up Civil War soldiers. It is that strong history that’s probably the reason why a blog post on the Army’s website declared in 2009, “Today, it seems, you couldn’t throw a rock into an Army formation without hitting a Soldier with at least one tattoo.”

So it might be strange for the Army to put forth a new rule banning them on commonly tattooed portions of the body. At the Stars and Stripes, Josh Smith (a former National Journal reporter) reports that Secretary of the Army John McHugh has approved, but not yet signed, a change to the Army’s appearance regulations that would ban tattoos from the forearm, below the knee, or above the neckline. The Army will also require the removal of offensive tattoos, Smith reports, Forcing the removal of offensive tattoos is a step up in severity from current regulations. Currently, “commanders may not order the removal of a tattoo or brand. However, the commander must counsel soldiers, and afford them the opportunity to seek medical advice about removal or alteration of the tattoo or brand.” If the soldier does respond to the counsel, the commander is to make sure “the soldier understands the policy.”
